After meeting with a number of leading Israeli medical device companies, and recognizing the phenomenal potential that Israel's biomedical industry offers, Sinopharm representatives announced their eagerness to collaborate with their Israeli counterparts on a wide range of future business endeavors.

Important Tips for Doing Business in China

1.      Cheap is expensive: Don't use your existing contracts to do business in China. Whether dealing with distributors, partners or manufacturers, you must use a reputable attorney to prepare a document aimed at the Chinese market. This will save you a great deal of aggravation in the long run.

2.      Be Prepared for Delays: Don't plan on sales in China before getting your SFDA certificate. When starting the SFDA process, take into consideration it may take longer than you are told. This is due to the fact that SFDA authorities change their requirements on a monthly basis without advance notification.

3.      Fast = Serious: Chinese can move very fast, and when they don't receive a next-day reply from you, this can be interpreted as you don't want to do business with them. Best in the beginning to explain that, as China is a new market and you are not that knowledgeable about it, you need time to learn. They will respect you for that.

4.      Keep it Kosher: Never hint or offer upfront - or in public - anything but completely aboveboard dealings. Chinese get insulted by anything that sounds non-kosher and may refuse to do business with you.

5.      Respect & Honor: China is an exciting market and the Chinese are very nice people to do business with. However, before you start any business in China, be sure to learn how to work with the local business people, as respect and honor are very important to them. Gain your partners' trust and expect a productive cooperation.
